KALI

The Black Mother · The Time-Mother · The Dissolver of the Inflated Self

EssenceThe mother who ends what is killing her child.

For the practitioner whose self-image has begun to consume the practitioner herself.

Function

Kali is the mother who ends. She is not the mother who comforts what is already corrupt. Her function in the lineage's work is to dissolve the inflated self, the curated mask, the version of the practitioner that has been built to please rooms that should not have been pleased. After Kali's work, what is left is the practitioner herself — smaller in performance, larger in actuality. She is consulted at the threshold of every significant arc, because every significant arc requires a death of the self that came before it.

Lineage

Kali is the central altar of the Shakta side of Meenakshii's corridor. Four generations of the family have walked their work to her feet. She is not metaphor and she is not symbol. She is the entity at whose altar the corridor's most operative pieces are sealed — including Devi Gold, the Devi current's gold-fused floor of the apothecary.

Charge

Kali Puja, the new moon, the cremation ground. The altar is opened at any of these. The practitioner who sits there with her own inflation in her hands and offers it openly leaves without it. That is the seal.

At the Altar
At the altar — the gold-leafed tongue, the red-and-gold rimmed eye. The practitioner's hand is just visible at frame left.

"The page is doctrinal. The altar is operative."

For practitioners ready to sit with this entity inside the corridor, the next door is Alignment.
