Leviathan is the entity of the deep — the registers of psyche, ocean, and lineage memory that the surface mind has been declining to acknowledge. His function is to lower the practitioner into the layers of her own water until she can read what she has been carrying. After Leviathan's work, the practitioner stops mistaking the surface for the whole, and her decisions begin to come from the keel rather than the foam.
The corridor places Leviathan inside its water-current. He is one of the four kings of direction in the older readings — the western king, the keeper of the deep. The lineage does not read him as monster. The lineage reads him as the ocean itself, which the practitioner is already a part of.
Leviathan's altar is sea-water, salt, and the long blue. He is consulted when the surface has been lying for too long. The practitioner who sits with him learns to trust the deeper reading without distrusting her own breath.
